Dr. Hashim Muhammad Ali Mahdi was born and educated in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, obtained his PhD in the US and further qualifications in the UK. He is a fellow of the Islamic Academy, Cambridge and has been associated with the Muslim World League in various capacities for almost two and a half decades, including  the post of International Strategic Expert in recent years.

He worked as a lecturer in Imam Ibn Saud University in Saudi Arabia and also in the Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies in Jakarta.  He was a Visiting Lecturer for University of Indonesia. He was appointed as Head of Islamic Section in the Saudi Embassy in Bonn. 

Since 2001 he has been the Director General of The Islamic Cultural Centre and the London Central Mosque.

Dr Harvey received his MA and then PhD in Islamic Studies from SOAS, University of London. He has previously worked as a Senior Teaching Fellow at SOAS, as a Research Fellow at the Cambridge Muslim College and is currently Lecturer in Islamic Studies at Ebrahim College in London. He has written articles  on canonical and variant Qur’anic qirāʾāt and will soon release his first book entitled The Qur’an and the  Just Society with Edinburgh University Press. His current research interests are Qur’anic studies, Islamic theology and contemporary philosophy.

Shafi Fazaluddin is a PhD Candidate at SOAS, University of London and holds Masters Degrees in both Islamic Studies and Law. He is also a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales with extensive legal experience in the City of London. His specialist area of research is Conciliation (Sulh) in the Qur’an and Hadith. He is the author of Conciliation Ethics in the Qur’an, published in 2016.

Fatima Rajina recently completed her PhD at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, looking at British Bangladeshi Muslims and their changing identifications and perceptions of dress and language. She has an innate appreciation for the diversity of human nature, as evidenced in her choice of degrees and in her desire to constantly engage with the complex and challenging facets of our global society. She speaks five languages and is passionate about social justice issues. Fatima is currently working on a project, Lutonians, along with Ahqib Hussain to document the every day lived-experiences of people from Luton.
